The state's second safest city is Greenwich which has a violent crime rate of 34 per 1,000 and a property crime rate of 7.53 per 1,000, some of the lowest crime rates in the country for a community its size, according to the report.

New Canaan came in third on the list. The town of 20,364 recorded just two violent crimes in 2017, said Background Checks.
